CENTRAL TAPANULI
Central Tapanuli is a regency situated on the western coast of North Sumatra. Some of the area is highland where visitors can enjoy the nice mixture of coastal and mountainous atmosphere.
Its position is between North Tapanuli and South Tapanuli surrounding the town of Sibolga.
Most of the people come from coastal tribes. The rest are Batak, Minang, Nias and Mandailing Angkola. Like other coastal areas, central Tapanuli is rich in cultural arts such as dances, poetry, singing and legends which are strongly rooted in the society.
In this area one can find historical artifacts such as ancient tombs and tools related to the first entrance of Islam into Indonesia. This area can be reached by land and air transportation (from Medan and Pekan Baru) and also by sea transportation from Jakarta and Padang.
