THE MUNICIPALITY OF PEMATANG SIANTAR
The municipality of Pematang Siantar is located at longitude 3° 02' 09" and 01° 01' 10" East and is 400 metres above sea level. This region is located at the foot of Bukit Barisan which has fresh and cool air. Its average temperature is about 25° C and it has an average annual rainfall of around 2808 mm. It rains about 197 days per year.
Pematang Siantar borders on Simalungun Regency. It has a heterogeneous population which consists of several ethnic groups such as Simalungun, Toba, Mandailing, Angkola, Sipirok, Jawa, Karo, Minang, etc. Each ethnic group, which has its own unique traditions, is considered to be part of the national cultural heritage.
Pematang Siantar is one of the autonomous regions and is located in the province of North Sumatra. It is 128 km to the south of Medan. Pematang Siantar is one of the cleanest cities in Indonesia and has received several of the highest rewards. One of them is the Adipura Cup.
In addition, this city has receive the Wahana Tata Nugraha Reward as the city having the best traffic rules Pematang Siantar, which once was the Governor's residence has historical places, and tourist and recreational attractions. The area around the city has some agro tourist attractions like oil palm, rubber, tea, and cocoa plantations.
